What ServiceTitan actually does
ServiceTitan is an all-in-one platform built for trade contractors. The pieces that matter:
- Call booking and customer service. Inbound call screen with caller ID, customer history, and one-click booking. The CSR sees who the caller is before they finish saying hello.
- Dispatch and scheduling. Drag-and-drop dispatch board with technician location, job type matching, and route optimization.
- Field tech mobile app. Job details, customer history, parts ordering, photo capture, on-site invoicing, signature capture, and integrated payments.
- Pricebook and presentation. Built-in pricebook with "good/better/best" option presentation that techs use to upsell at the kitchen table.
- Payments. Native card processing through ServiceTitan Pay. Means contractors don't have to bolt on Stripe or Square separately.
- Reporting and dashboards. Revenue per tech, marketing source ROI, dispatch efficiency, and a hundred other operational reports out of the box.
- Marketing automation. Email and direct mail campaigns tied to customer events (membership renewals, equipment age, recall notices).

The breadth is the point. Smaller competitors do one or two of these well. ServiceTitan does most of them at a level that holds up under heavy daily volume.

ServiceTitan does not publish prices. Every quote is custom and runs through a sales conversation that includes a demo and a needs assessment. That's frustrating for buyers who want to comparison-shop, but it's consistent with how enterprise contractor software has always been sold.

Dispatch board. ServiceTitan's dispatch is one of the cleanest in the industry. Color-coded by job status, drag-and-drop reassignment, and a map view that shows where every tech actually is. Filtering by job type, geography, or tech skill is fast.
Mobile app for techs. The field-tech experience is solid. Techs can view the day's jobs, run forms, capture before-and-after photos, present pricing options to customers, take payment, and have the customer sign on the device. Offline mode handles dead-zone neighborhoods.

Cons
- Expensive. The total-cost-of-ownership is the single biggest objection. Shops report 3x to 5x the cost of Housecall Pro or Jobber.
- Long onboarding. Implementation typically takes 60 to 120 days. Teams that try to rush it often have a rough first quarter on the platform.
- Sales-led buying process. No self-serve signup, no published pricing, demo required. Owners who hate sales calls find this frustrating.
- Overkill for small shops. Solo operators and 1-to-5-tech shops will pay for capabilities they'll never use. The tooling is calibrated for businesses that already have a CSR team and a dispatcher.
